Montserrat boasts natural rock formations rising to a height of 4, 000 feet (1,224 meters). The present day community of Montserrat is made up of a hundred monks who are governed by to the rule of San Benedict (6th century). It was considered the home of the Holy Grail, and today it is a prime cultural and tourist attraction, as well as one of the most important pilgrimage places on the Iberian Peninsula.
An exhibition shows the monks daily activities and the main parts of the monastery, and the audio visual film "Montserrat behind closed doors", the everyday rules and organization of the Benedictine community. The access to the monastery is by zip train, which will offer you a spectacular and unique perspective of the mountain.
Later, visit one of the best known wine cellars in Spain to taste some exquisite wine call "Aromas de Montserrat" made since ancient times by the monks, and Crema Catalana schnapps.
